LEVEL OF ENTRY: All COSS ND (Adv) graduates enter the BHSc degree with formal recognition of their COSS award. Degree students need to complete only 4 subjects, part-time, over a minimum of 12 months to qualify for the BHSc This is equivalent to only 6 months full-time study.
-
EQUIVALENT AWARD: At the completion of the 4 subjects for the BHSc
degree, graduates receive a National Recognised Training award of equivalent standing to other health science professionals.
-
COLLEGIALITY: Undertaking studies for BHSc at CSU exposes you to the same academic environment and rigour shared by other health professionals, such as nurses, pre-hospital care personnel, physiotherapists and pharmacists.
-
GREATER CAREER OPPORTUNITIES: By opting to complete a degree in a mainstream academic institution you may choose to pursue higher degrees at the Masters and PhD level. By opting to complete a degree in Health Science rather than a degree in Naturopathy, you have broadened your career options.
-
METHOD: Both COSS and CSU specialise in distance education. Therefore, this degree can be completed fully by distance mode, allowing students to choose when they study.
-
RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS: There are only 3 compulsory residential schools at the Bathurst campus, each of one day in duration, thus minimizing accommodation costs. Where appropriate, every attempt will be made to run residential schools on consecutive days, necessitating only 2 trips to Bathurst over the 12 months.
-
COSTS: With the formal articulation, you will be dealing directly with CSU. There is no third party involved which can often result in extra expense.
-
FUNDING: CSU subjects are HECS funded, and do not require payment of up-front fees. Students may qualify for financial assistance through the government AUSTUDY scheme for these subjects.
-
STANDARDS: In 1997, CSU was awarded 'University of the Year'.
-
FULL ARTICULATION: COSS and CSU have a reciprocal arrangement for the recognition of each other's awards. CSU graduates from associated fields can enrol with COSS as postgraduate students in complementary medicine.
